Homemade Tomato Bisque

why you’ll love this homemade tomato bisque

I have never been a fan of tomato soup, but this homemade tomato bisque is a different thing entirely! It is slightly sweet, creamy, and so flavorful. It pairs perfectly with a grilled cheese- especially a sourdough one! And makes the perfect lunch. My husband grew up eating tomato soup from a can (which totally grosses me out) and this bisque is the middle ground that we can both enjoy!

faq and substitutions for homemade tomato bisque

What make a bisque different than a soup? A bisque is characterized by it’s thick creaminess, whereas a soup tends to be more brothy.

Can I omit the crushed tomatoes for a smoother bisque? You can substitute another can of tomato sauce for the crushed tomatoes.

What can I serve with tomato soup? We love to eat this soup with a delicious grilled cheese sandwhich, or with crackers or homemade sourdough croutons! It also pairs well with a fresh green salad!

Can I use milk instead of heavy cream? You can use milk or half and half instead of the heavy cream, but the end result will be lighter and less creamy.
